C-Store/Gas Station– Reported savings of $500,000 with steady comp store sales increases
A C-Store/Gas Station chain of more than 600 locations has been a TSi client since 2010. Upon completion of the assessment report, the door of opportunity opened and a fruitful partnership was developed.
Marketing:
As part of improving the C-Store’s business culture, The TSi Company tied marketing and communication concepts into employee training by producing a jingle for radio and television advertising. This helped both employees and customers identify with the message and ensured that everyone had a clear understanding of what the C-Store brand represents. Future plans include sales promotions supported by vendor dollars and special contests.
Technology and Training:
TSi used its patented methodology to develop custom interactive online training modules with iPad Apps that focused on key details needed for proficient job performance.
Because of TSi’s internal structure, App delivery to this C-Store chain was provided at a much lower cost than what the average App developer would charge. Estimates in savings are approximately $100,000 annually.
Another obstacle this company faced was store level technology had major limitations, specifically where Wi-Fi was concerned. The cost to install Wi-Fi would have been well over $1million dollars, while software companies offered estimates for over $500,000 to provide a non-Wi-Fi solution.
TSi’s technology team came in and solved a major problem for the C-Store chain…how to deliver iPad training to 600 stores without Wi-Fi. This assignment involved designing and building custom software.
The challenge was to find a way to transfer and update training and communication information back and forth to the iPads at store level. The TSi technology team generated a solution by creating a wired connection to the store terminal that would connect all information to and from the iPad. They also built a custom LMS for iPads that enabled communication with users, tracked and monitored testing and generated reports. The bridge converted all information from the corporate PeopleSoft system into the proper coding and connected with the in-store terminal code, which communicated with the iPad. In addition, the bridge converted information sent from the iPad through the connected terminal to connect with the corporate PeopleSoft system.
TSi's internal technology team solved the problem for significantly less, saving the C-Store chain a minimum of $500,000. By eliminating Wi-Fi expenses, the C-Store chain continues to benefit from residual savings, as the customized system is now fully integrated in all store locations. No other company has ever successfully delivered this solution.
We continue to partner with this C-Store chain, developing new marketing, technology and training concepts, and comp store sales growth remains steady.
